1.5 - Baranath Dredgion
Looking for a refreshing way to compete and earn Abyss Points? Look no further than the newest addition coming in Aion 1.5, the Baranath Dredgion!
What is the Baranath Dregion?
Boasting a unique PvPvE environment, the Baranath Dredgion is a time-locked 6-player instance where you and five other allies from your faction compete to score points by slaying monsters, defeating Daevas of the opposing faction, or completing objectives throughout the instance.
Each Baranath Dredgion can last up to 40 minutes but will conclude earlier if the boss of the instance is slain. Large quantities of Abyss Points will be up for grabs, so keep reading to learn all about this incoming feature!
How to Enter
Once the Balaur Incursion begins on October 13th, Daevas will be able to enter the Baranath Dredgion by selecting the Entry Request button in the bottom-right of their screen.
This button will only become active three times per day, and for a period of two hours each time. Once entered, there will be a cooldown of two hours before you can once again enter a Baranath Dredgion.
Gather a team together or have the automated matchmaking system link you up with other members of your faction, so you can enter the instance together!
Winning the Dredgion
The way to win a Baranath Dredgion is to accrue points. While most named monsters give 200 points, and the Vice Captain awards 500 points, the most meaningful action you can generally perform is to destroy objectives, called Surkana.
Each attack you make against a Surkana will deal 1 damage to it. Upon destroying a Surkana, its points (ranging from 500 – 1,100 depending on location) will be distributed to each faction based upon how much damage they dealt.
As you attempt to destroy these objectives, monsters will spawn to defend them and receive buffs from the Surkana. Once destroyed, the Surkana will cause the color of the room it was contained in to change on the map to the faction which contributed the most damage to it (Green for Elyos, Blue for Asmodian).
Destroying Surkana and preventing the opposing team from doing so will be one of the key aspects of achieving victory! Do what you can to secure these critical objectives.
Once 5 or more Surkana have been destroyed, the Captain of the Dredgion will spawn and award 1,000 final points to whoever can defeat him and bring the Dredgion to its end. Should the Captain not be killed, the battle will conclude after 40 minutes.
Other Elements
However, there’s more to winning this battle than just killing.
You may wish to pursue alternative objectives such as free the Prisoner from their holding cell. Or you can opt to prioritize control over the battlefield by securing key areas such as the Descent Lobby, which you may approach by destroying the Shield Generator.
Also, you will find Movement Device Generators and a Teleporter Device to help facilitate your movement throughout the battlefield.
The strategic decisions you make are as critical as battlefield prowess, so make sure to think carefully about how to approach the dynamic evolution of each Baranath Dredgion!
Whatever approach you choose for your battles, we hope that the Baranath Dredgion leads to many fun and rewarding combat experiences once the Balaur Incursion begins. Look forward to this feature, and the others included with 1.5 which we’ll continue sharing over the next two weeks, going live on October 13th!
